We are thrilled to announce the upcoming STATHS78' & Friends Webathon, a special live-streamed event from 6-9pm EST, to raise funds for a transformative project at St. Andrew Technical High School (STATHS)
—the establishment of a state-of-the-art Medical, Counseling & Intervention Center. Mark your calendars and join us for an exciting event filled with inspiring stories, musical performances, and opportunities to support the health and well-being of our STATHS students, faculty, and staff.
Purpose of the Fundraiser
The STATHS Medical, Counseling & Intervention Center will be a vital resource, providing comprehensive healthcare and mental health services to our school community. This project aims to move beyond the traditional one-day health fairs that are common across Jamaica, offering year-round support to students and staff.
With an expanded footprint from 400 to 2,800 square feet, this center will be equipped with modern amenities, including green technologies like solar panels and a water treatment system. Your support will help make this center a reality, ensuring that the STATHS community has access to essential health services for years to come.
Meet the Sporting Legends
One of the highlights of the webathon will be interviews with 16 sports greats who have left an indelible mark on STATHS and Jamaica’s athletic history. These athletes will share their incredible journeys
—from their time as students at STATHS to representing Jamaica on the global stage. Their stories of perseverance, dedication, and achievement are sure to inspire us all.
Notable Hosts and Interviewers
The webathon will be led by none other than the multi-award-winning sports journalist
Ed Barnes, CD the beloved and popular radio personality known for his engaging presence and deep connection to the Jamaican sports world.
Alongside Mr. Barnes, we’ll have a talented team of interviewers, including some of the country’s most respected sports journalists and broadcasters, who will bring out the best in our guests through insightful and meaningful conversations.
Special Guests
In addition to the sporting greats, the webathon will feature interviews with notable alumni and community figures. Expect appearances from organizations such as the Ministry of Health who will discuss potential community partnerships.
Also, musical appearances from Ethiopian community leader Sidney Salmon, a STATHS graduate of 1982
