As we draw closer to the end of the 2025 calendar year, I take this opportunity to reflect and look ahead. STATHS ’78 & Friends remains steadfast in its mission, which is to see the successful completion of a Medical, Counselling and Intervention Center (MCIC) on the campus of St. Andrew Technical High School. This vision is not just a structure; it is a commitment to the well-being, care, and future of generations of students who will traverse that “Oasis in the Desert” and pass through the halls of our beloved institution.
Via the support of our partners, ranging from media professionals and medical personnel to corporate entities and passionate alumni, we have successfully raised awareness of our mission and set the fundraising wheels firmly in motion. As is customary with any journey, there can be detours, and Hurricane Melissa proved to be a challenging one. Spurred on by a sense of patriotism, compassion, and foresight, our Board made the humane decision to redirect funds toward urgent hurricane relief efforts. This resulted in tangible support for the Belmont area of Westmoreland, with particular focus on Belmont Academy. In addition, we partnered with the Jamaica-based Victoria Mutual Foundation to deliver much-needed care packages to the Morass area of Westmoreland. These efforts reaffirmed the fact that diligent service in an honorable format remains at the heart of our mission.
The year 2026 and beyond will tax our ability to bring further awareness to our MCIC campaign as well as our fundraising. It is a challenge we are ready to tackle, with resolve and alacrity, and I take this opportunity to encourage all stakeholders, partners, and friends of STATHS to support this shared vision actively, by your generous giving, and partnership as we transform that commitment into a reality that is the MCIC.
Honor, Diligence, and Service.
Claude Bryan
Chairman
